CAGAYAN de Oro City - Region 10 joins the 5th Philippine Participation in China Education Expo (CEE) in Shanghai and Business Mission to Wuhan and Suzhou Cities on October 21-28, 2008.
Our region’s representative, the Liceo de Cagayan University and the Father Saturnino Urios University of the CARAGA are the partner universities from Mindanao.
Five other universities from Luzon and Visayas are participating in the exposition.
The CEE is one of the leading events for educational services in the Asia-Pacific region that aims to provide a viable platform for discourse, possible business ventures and capacity building for institutions in the world’s most dynamic education network.
Research has shown the continuous growth of Chinese students studying abroad reaching over 100,000 students and it is expected to rise further to 200,000 by 2010 and 300,000 by 2020.
Last year, CEE gathered nearly 20,000 local and regional visitors who met with the representatives from 600 institutions from 41 countries.
Most of the visitors came face-to-face with exhibitors in their pursuit of quality educational facilities and services to comply with the growing demand of China’s education industry. In order to maximize the exhibitors’ participation, the CEE also holds various fora, workshops and networking sessions.
The Philippine participation to the CEE is organized by the Department of Trade and industry (DTI) through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) in support of the promotion of the DTI’s priority export sectors (Emerging Services-Specialized Education Services) under the proposed Philippine Export Development Plan for 2008-2010.
This project helps sustain the promotional efforts to penetrate the “study abroad market” in China. It can also help in strengthening and improving the global ranking of the universities in the country since international students’ profile is one of the criteria in the global ranking of universities.
A higher ranking would mean better outlook in terms of the human resources capital by foreign investors. This year’s participation of the Philippines to the CEE conveys major milestones in presenting the whole country as a destination for higher education. (DTI-10)
