DENR announces poster-making contest winners



 CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY NEWS -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Region 10 (DENR 10) announced the winners in the poster-making contest it held with the theme ”Stop Climate Change Before it Changes You.” 

A student from Corpus Christi School, Jericho B. Montellano garnered first place in the contest. Second place winner was Joe Michael Fabrigas of Cagayan de Oro National High School, and third place went to Johann Mc Verdadz Mangga of Bukidnon National High School. The consolation prize went to Abegail S. Tagupa of Fatima College of Camiguin.

The winners were awarded cash prizes: P2,000 for the first place, P1,000 for the second place, and P500 for the third place.

Twenty-four high school students from the provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, and Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City vied in the contest, which was part of the Environment Month celebration last June.

The contest was spearheaded by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) under the leadership of regional director Sabdullah C. Abubacar.

The criteria for judging included the following: impact and interpretation, 35 percent; originality, 25 percent; esthetic appeal, 25 percent; and quality considerations, 15 percent.

The board of judges were DENR personnel, namely, lawyer Blesire Labuntog, head executive assistant of the land management services; planning staff Susan Magtoto of EMB-10; Cecilia Tan of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau; and forester Fidel Gamos Jr. of the forest management services.
