OWWA -10 brings services closer to Camiguin OFWs

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY NEWS -- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Northern Mindanao conducted a livelihood skills training on T-shirt printing and shellcraft making in Mambajao, Camiguin province June 26 to 29. 


The training, conducted in cooperation with the Barangay Council of Yumbing in Mambajao, was held upon the request of 28 officers and members of the Pag-asa OFW Association to address the demand for souvenir items of tourists who visit the island-province.

OWWA-10 also conducted a Business Planning Seminar for 18 Household Service Workers (HSWs) in Catarman town June 26. These displaced HSWs had decided to stay in the country for good and have started their micro enterprises mostly hog raising, sari-sari store operation, and fish bending. Their applications for funding will be endorsed to the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO).

Highlighting the delivery of services in Camiguin was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on intensifying Anti-Illegal Recruitment Program and Child-Labor Free Province.

The MoU was signed by Camiguin Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Deputy Administrator Amuerfina Reyes, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 10 Director Johnson CaƱete, and OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dimzon represented by Regional Director Petrona Bergado on June 28.
