CITY Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula expressed optimism in Cagayan de Oro’s capacity to attract more foreign investors to put up businesses here in the city.
Earlier in the week as he marked his first 100 days in office, Mayor Jaraula is confident that he has boosted the establishment of an ideal local business climate by as much as 50 percent.
Mayor Jaraula said that in the first 100 days of his administration, he had implemented a continuing drive to clear the streets and sidewalks against illegal vending and structures.
The clearing of sidewalks against vending has received positive feedback from local taxpayers, particularly the members of the Oro Chamber and Promote CDO Foundation who have lauded Mayor Jaraula for his strong political will in enforcing the law against sidewalk vending.
Mayor Jaraula explained that with the clearing operations, taxpayers are encouraged to pay their obligations diligently and promptly as they have seen how the taxes they have paid were put to good use by the city government.
The city chief executive added that as a result of the continuous clearing of streets and sidewalks, more tourists and investors are taking notice of the positive changes that are taking place in the city.
Already, Mayor Jaraula disclosed that over 1,000 hectares of prime real estates investments have been established in several areas in the city at present.
But Mayor Jaraula pointed out that over and above the physical achievements in the earlier days of his administration, it is the unity among all sectors in the city after the May elections which he considered as the most his most significant accomplishment.
Oro joins pact for sustainable agriculture in
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement was held very recently at the Harbor Lights Hotel and Restaurant where City Councilor Ceasar Ian Acenas, chair of the city council committee on agriculture and fisheries, represented City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula.

He said that the program covers the hinterland barangays of the city particularly the barangays of Baikingon, San Simon, Pagatpat, Lumbia, Tagpangi, Pagalungan, Taglimao, Tuburan, Pigsag-an, Tumpagon, Bayanga, Mambuaya, Dansolihon, Tignapoloan and Besigan.
The above-mentioned barangays will identify programs that will reduce poverty by improving its income and food security among the rural poor and the indigenous communities.

Bajas said that the programs which the barangays will design must be based on the four series of programs set by the national government like Investments for Governance Reform, Rural Infrastructure Sub-projects, Community Fund for Agricultural Development Sub-projects and Natural Resource Management.
He added that upon entering into the agreement, the city government will then create a Multi-Sectoral Committee, a Revenue Generation Committee and a Planning and Monitoring Committee for the sustainability of the projects.
The city agriculturist will also ask Mayor Jaraula to set aside P500,000 to kick-off the project and to received the loan that will be granted to the city.
