Erasing Shyness Makes You Even More Confident

Being typically shy is not really a disturbing attitude because in no time, this habit can go away as long as the person is doing something to make the situation less of a concern.

Shyness is normally a feeling that people experience when they are uncomfortable with themselves, especially when they are around other people.

Professionals say that shyness occurs when people become overly self-conscious, has excessively negative self-evaluation or excessively negative self-preoccupation.

People would tend to feel shy when they become so overly aware of themselves, especially when they are in social situations.

Shyness would also cloak them over every time they see themselves negatively or when they pay too much attention to the things they do wrong when they are with other people.

Other shy people have weak self-image that because of their desire to fit in with a group, they end up not feeling like themselves.

Some are also pre-occupied with themselves and are so sensitive to what they are doing when around other people, which make them anxious. They are doing everything so as not to screw up in front of other people. This feeling makes them feel nervous.

Other people also label themselves as shy when in fact they are not. This notion keeps on floating in their mind, giving them the overall thinking that they are indeed, shy. This makes them anxious and nervous when they are with other people.

But shyness is not an illness. It is a condition that can be overcome by the shy person himself. Below are some tips that can help shy people overcome their shyness.

Understand your shyness. Determine what causes your shyness and what triggers it.

Identify the different situations that make you feel nervous. Understanding your shyness can help you find possible solutions to overcome it.

Be aware of yourself. Self-awareness is one step to improving your life so focus on your thoughts and views. Don’t be a self-conscious person. Along with self-awareness, you also have to like yourself because no one else will do it but you. Appreciate and know yourself more.

Know your strengths. Focus on the things that you are good at and enhance them.

This can help you boost your self-esteem and ego.

Learn the ways to release your anxiety and fear. Deep breathing is one of the ways that can help you release your anxiety and fear. Take deep breaths with your eyes closed and clear your thoughts with worries. Other ways to release your anxiety and fear are yoga, exercises like jogging or simply doing brisk walking. You can also do visualization. This is done by visualizing yourself as a happy and confident person. This can help you change the negative perception you have on yourself.

Practice social skills. Shy persons avoid going to social places but you can overcome this by practicing social skills, particularly talking. You can start through self-talk until you think you can already handle any form of conversation with other people.
