The grand winner of Soundskool 2009 was Eevee, a Davao-based college band. Eevee, composed of Enzo Miguel Villegas (vocals and guitar), Paolo Raymundo Segura (lead guitar), Jerrick Adrian Sy (bass) and Craig John Neniel (drums), won the competition’s P250,000 cash prize, an exclusive record label deal with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines and P150,000 worth of music equipment for the school they represent.

Plane flights in Normin increased by 19%


Cagayan de Oro City – A 19.13% increase in the number of incoming and outgoing flights have been recorded by the Air Transportation Office (ATO), Area IX based at Lumbia Airport, this city, in 2007.
Data at ATO-IX show there was a total of 3,606 incoming and outgoing flights, each in 2007 compared to 3,027 flights, in the same period, last year.
It also show that the number of incoming air passengers increased from 303,143 to 386,860 or 27.62 %, and those outgoing, from 303,069 to 392,160 or 29.40%.
Engr. Agnes B. Udang, ATO-IX Area Manager, said the increase could be because additional routes were added, especially in the late afternoons to accommodate more passengers.
She said the volume of incoming air cargoes also increased from 4,752,429 kgs. to 5,558,504 kgs. or 16.96% and those outgoing, from 5,626,085 kgs. to 6,850,310 kgs. or 21.76%.
Meanwhile, during the 4th quarter of 2007, air traffic in the ATO-IX area of responsibility continued to increase as incoming and outgoing flights rose from 865 to 942 or 8.90%, respectively.
Udang said with the advent of the Christmas holidays, passenger traffic also increased during the period as incoming passengers grew from 82,989 to 104,031 or 25.36% and outgoing passengers, from 80,390 to 104,452 or 29.93%.
Likewise, incoming cargoes increased from 1,341,285 kgs. to 1,416,433 kgs. or 5.60% and out going cargoes, from 1,876,395 kgs. to 2,514,415 kgs. or 34%. (Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob
