Senator Zubiri to donate 80 multicabs to Oro barangays

By Joel Escol
This sounds to be good news for the barangay officials of Cagayan de Oro after Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri of Bukidnon met with local officials over the weekend in one of the hotels here and announced his plan of donating one multicab each to the chairpersons of the 80 barangays of the city.

The recent meeting was led by Association of Barangay Chairpersons (ABC)
President and City Councilor Aaron Neri. There were 80 percent of the local executives who attended the meeting. Those Barangay Officials that were not able to attend came from the hinterland barangays, it was learned.

Senator Zubiri, during the meeting tackled issues on environmental
concerns as among the contributory factor of the recent disaster that hit the city, but the main purpose of the senator from Mindanao is to announce he would be giving brand new Multicab vehicles to all of the city's 80 barangays

The distribution, Zubiri said, would be divided into two batches. The first batch to receive the said vehicles came from the first 40 barangays who were
lucky to be drawn this month during a raffle draw, while the other 40 barangays will be drawn as the second batch. Priority list will be given this coming March.

Among the first batch who can receive the vehicles were Barangays 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,11,14,15,16,23,27,30,31,32,34,38,40,Lapasan,Bayabas,Kauswagan,Puntod,Bayanga,Macasandig,Bulua,Iponan,Lumbia,Pagatpat,SanSimon,Tagpangi,Tignapoloan,Camaman-an,Macabalan,Balubal,Besigan,Tumpagon and Consolacion.

Each brand new Multicab according to Senator Zubiri is worth Php165,000 each and all will be purchased from a supplier in Cebu City, and will be turned over by the Senator to Mayor Tinnex Jaraula and ABC President Aaron Neri within this month, and will be paraded around the city.

In his speech, Zubiri said that the city were very lucky since all of the 80 barangays will be receiving the said unit while usually other municipalities are only allocated
1 million per municipality. In Misamis Oriental, Senator Zubiri already gave 20 million worth of projects.

Senator Zubiri is also saddened with recent flashfloods that hit the city this month and left five residents dead and thousands of families homeless.

Zubiro said he would also instruct the new DPWH 10 regional director to prioritize the
deepening of Cagayan de Oro River and asks concerted effort from multi-sectoral groups to do continuous tree planting activities.
