200 Oro families receive cash grant from DSWD

More than 200 families from Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City gratefully received cash granted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on January 21, 2009.

Graced by Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, the distribution was made through DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program which promotes health, education, health and nutrition of extreme poor families in the City.

The families, who will be receiving every month P500 for health check ups and P300 per child for his or her schooling, are to comply with certain conditions of the Program to ensure that they will continue receiving the grant until 2012.

Pregnant beneficiaries are also to get pre-natal care and must be attended by skilled or trained person and should get post-natal care; parents must attend family planning sessions and parent effectiveness seminars; children under 5 years old must also get regular health check ups and vaccinations; children from three to five years old must attend Day Care or pre-school at least 85% of the time; and children six to 14 years old must also attend school at least 85% of the time.

Atty. Araceli F. Solamillo, DSWD Regional Director, said that the families will continue to receive the cash grant provided that they comply with the conditions.

“If the families will not comply to the conditions then the cash grant will be suspended and will be terminated from the program.”

Director Solamillo said that the conditions were set to ensure that the household will continue providing health, nutrition, and education to its members of the families. (Charmaine P. Tadlas)
