Siomai Vendor Grabs 2 Million Pilipinas Got Talent Purse

Sixteen year’s old Jovit Baldevino was this year’s first edition of Pilipinas Got Talent winner and grabbed the top prize of Two Million Pesos.

The young siomai vendor from Batangas bested 11 other finalists during the PGT Grand Finals Night held at the Araneta Coliseum in the Philippines yesterday (June 12).
Baldevino’s closest rivals who also made it to the top three were the Velasco Brothers and Baguio Metamorphosis.

Both his closest rivals also went home a top consolation of P100,000 each while nine other finalists who did not make it to the top three also took home P50,000 each.

The siomai vendor performed his finale song “Too Much Love Will Kill You” originally sung by Queen that made him a millionaire in an instant.

During the elimination round, Baldivino amazed the crowd with his own rendition of “Faithfully” originally composed by the Journey Band, whose current soloist is also a Filipino (Arnel Pineda). His semi-final rendition of “Carrie” was also a standing ovation.

Kris Aquino, one of the judges of PGT, said Jovit Baldevino, the siomai vendor, could become ABS-CBN’s next superstar.
