Five out of the 67 scholars of the City College Scholarship Program (CCSP) shined the brightest among the rest as they will graduate on March this year with flying colors.
Norma Lee Sabacajan, chief of the Community Improvement Division of the City Mayor’s Office and secretariat of the CCSP, said that this year’s batch of graduating city scholars has produced two Magna Cum Laude awardees, two Cum Laude awardees and one With Honors awardee.
Topping the list of Magna Cum Laude awardees are Jhon Ralph Enterina who took up B.S. Chemistry at Xavier University and Richmund Bijaan who took up B.S. Education at Liceo de Cagayan University.
Graduating as Cum Laude awardees are Gladys Fuentes (B.S. Education at Capitol Univeristy) and Aldrin Torrejos (B.S. Education at Mindanao University of Science and Technology), while Renuel Salucot (B.S. Accountancy at Capitol University) will receive With Honors award.

The City College Scholarship Program, chaired by city accountant Wilma P. Rugay, has already produced a total of 264 graduates from the different colleges and universities in Cagayan de Oro City since its implementation more than 10 years ago. Presently, the city government has allotted P7.7 million intended for the scholarship program, benefiting 208 scholars.
Vowing to expand the program, City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula assured to increase the number of scholars under the City College Scholarship Program (CCSP) from the present 208 to 300, covering calendar year 2009-2010.
In recognition for their hardwork, perseverance and determination, the city government will tender on March 13 a special dinner for the graduating city scholars, Mayor Jaraula said.
Joining the mayor during the dinner are the members of the City Council, to be led by Vice Mayor Vicente Y. Emano who conceived the scholarship program in 1998 when he was the city mayor, department heads and chiefs of office at City Hall. (City Information Office)
