City intensifies drive on natural family planning

By Raul G. Moldez

THE city government of Cagayan de Oro, through the Responsible Parenting Movement and Natural Family Planning Task Force, has intensified its campaign by conducting a series of RPM-NFP classes in the barangays.

Councilor Mary Cor Calizo, chair of the City Council committee on women and family relations, said that since March this year, the task force already conducted 35 classes to 300 reproductive couples, who expressed willingness to adopt the program.

The RPM-NFP aims to promote responsible parenting using the NFP methods for birth spacing. The methods are Basal Body Temperature Method, Cervical Mucus Method o Billings Ovulation Method, Sympto-Thermal Method, Lactational Amenorrhea Method, or Breastfeeding and Standard Days Method.

The task force is composed of representatives from the City Social Welfare and Development Department, City Health Office, Community Improvement Division and the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, with funding support from the national government, through the Population Commission (POPCOM)
