Cagayan de Oro mayor thanks Senator Zubiri's P12-M multicab donation

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Constantino “Tinnex” Jaraula today thanked Senator Juan Miguel “Migs” Zubiri for donating some 80 multicab units worth P12 million which will be used in the maintenance of peace and order and other basic transportation needs of the city’s rural and urban barangays.

“This (donation) will greatly help our barangay officials in their efforts to maintain the peace and order condition in their respective areas, as well as to respond to the basic needs of our constituents,” said Mayor Jaraula during the blessing and turnover ceremonies held on August 27, 2009 at the City Hall grounds.

Initially, Senator Zubiri and Mayor Jaraula turned over to the recipient barangays some 40 out of the 80 brand-new multicab units which was funded from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

“As I have said before, Mindanao will always be on top of my priorities being a Mindanaoan myself. While this is only the first batch, I hope that these (multicabs) will become instrumental and helpful in the delivery of basic services to all Cagayanons,” the Senate Majority Leader, who hails from the landlocked province of Bukidnon, told the ecstatic crowd.

City Information Officer Erwin B. Culanag is hopeful that the remaining 40 units of multicab, comprising the second batch of delivery, will be received by the local government in October this year.

Aside from his multicab donation, considered as one of his biggest project allocation so far to a local government unit, Senator Zubiri also led last year a medical-surgical mission that benefited at least 3,000 poor residents in Cagayan de Oro City.-
