Cagayan de Oro mayor suspends erring employees

Showing ‘toughness’ to impose disciplinary sanctions against erring City Hall employees, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Constantino “Tinnex” Jaraula slapped some 42 workers with stiff penalties for committing various infractions to standing policies, rules and regulations.

In a separate memoranda, Mayor Jaraula suspended for two days without pay two employees from the East and Westbound Terminals and Public Markets for having been observed drinking beer at the Westbound Terminal prior to their schedule of duty as security guards.

Another employee from the EWTPM was also suspended without pay for two days after he was not found in his post during the monitoring inspection.

For incurring habitual tardiness, the City Mayor also ordered salary forfeiture of some 12 employees from the City Civil Registry ranging from one-day to five-day salary forfeiture.

As a matter of policy, a total of 27 employees from the different departments and offices at City Hall were also meted with one-half day salary forfeiture for not attending the flag raising ceremony on May 18, 2009.

The imposition of disciplinary sanctions against erring City Hall employees is a continuing effort of Mayor Jaraula to instill discipline even as he regularly encouraged all City Government workers to develop sense of pride and dignity as public servants.
