Former Oro mayor in ICU, but ‘just resting’

FORMER Cagayan de Oro City mayor Vicente Emano is at Capitol University Medical Center’s (CUMC) intensive care unit (ICU) more than two days after being rushed to the hospital.
City Councilor Nadya Emano-Elipe, however, said the 74-year-old Emano is "okay.”
"Yes, he was rushed to the hospital but his health is okay, that's all," Emano-Elipe said without elaborating.
But Emano-Elipe said her father will have to stay at the hospital a little longer, contrary to Councilor Ramon Tabor's earlier statement that the ex-mayor was scheduled to be discharged Monday.
"Hulati lang ninyo siya, mugawas man siya anytime this week. The mayor kasi is the one who makes his own releases so I can't make the statement," Emano-Elipe said.
Meanwhile, City Councilor Alex Dacer, Padayon Pilipino spokesperson, said Emano was confined after suffering from hypoglycemia.
Hypoglycemia is a condition characterized by an abnormally low sugar blood levels and may cause the person to faint, experience seizures, or may even lead to coma if left untreated.
"He is not dying. He is only at the ICU to keep visitors away, aron na maka-rest completely gayud si Mayor Emano, but nothing serious," Dacer said.
Dacer said earlier that Emano was due to go home Sunday.
"Gipapahulay lang gayud siya sa iyang anak na doktor, ipatiwas ang medication," Dacer added.
Asked if Emano's illness is related to his being a chain smoker, Dacer said, "Dili gyud tungod sa iyang pag-sigarilyo, na-hypo lang siya."
"Padayon ang iyang kandidatura, wala ma-apektuhan, he is still going to run," Dacer added. - From sunstar.com.ph
