All are welcome, Rufus says

PARTY members from both the Liberal Party (LP) and Padayon Pilipino who want to jump ship are welcome to the Centrist Democratic Party (CDP), Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Representative Rufus Rodriguez said Monday.
Rodriguez, the CDP candidate for mayor for next year’s polls, said he is aiming to build a ‘unity administration’ and welcoming political opponents now is a good start.
“You have seen naman some of (Mayor Oscar) Moreno’s group came to us and we also invite (those) from (former mayor Vicente) Emano group to join us…dili na ta sa bingkil-bingkil”, Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez said the CDP’s endorsement of the candidacy of re-electionist 1st District Representative Rolando “Klarex” Uy Saturday is a sign of his willingness to work with people from both camps.
Rodriguez said he has already spoken with village officials from both camps but declined to name them.
“Di nato gusto nga ilang buhaton diretso ang pagbalhin ato lang hulat-hulatan,” he said.
“Naay nagpadayag ang uban pinaagi sa among mga leaders ang uban diretso miduol nako pero preliminary pa among panagistorya”, Rodriguez said.
Some 3,000 supporters attended the CDP convention Saturday and Rodriguez claimed all of the city’s 80 barangays were represented.
Former party members of both the Moreno and Emano camps were seen at the CDP convention.
But City Councilor Alexander Dacer, Padayon Pilipino spokesperson, said the Emano camp remains solid.
"Rufus is just dreaming," Dacer said.
But Dacer said they would respect the decision of party mates who would opt to abandon ship come election time. - From sunstar.com.ph
